Magnesium Oil

Magnesium Oil Review

Magnesium Oil: Transdermal Magnesium to Increase Your Magnesium Intake
Typically, when we think about supplements we tend to think about pills we take by mouth. However, there are some supplements that can be very beneficial as a topical solution that we apply to our skin. Magnesium oil is one of these supplements. It is a topical solution of magnesium chloride that is supersaturated in water.

How to Use Magnesium Oil
Magnesium oil is applied to your skin. You spray it on with a spray bottle and then rub it in thoroughly like a lotion. It can be applied anywhere on your body, but typically it is used on your arms and legs. I personally spray the magnesium oil on the backs of my knees and rub it into the entire surrounding area.
Magnesium oil can leave a salty residue after being applied. If you have any problems with this, you can apply it 20-30 minutes before showering so it is washed off in the shower or you can simply wash it off with a washcloth 20-30 minutes after applying it. Most of the magnesium should be absorbed after 20 minutes so don’t feel like you are losing out on a lot of benefits or wasting your money. I should also mention that magnesium oil can burn when it is applied. Take care to avoid applying it to broken skin, and if necessary, apply it to different areas of skin to avoid any burning sensations. You can always further dilute the oil if it is causing too much skin irritation.

When to Use Magnesium Oil?
I typically apply my magnesium oil 30-60 minutes before I plan on going to bed. Magnesium oil tends to have a calming effect so it is great for giving you that relaxing feeling before you go to bed. However, it can be used at anytime you see fit.

Magnesium Oil vs. Oral Magnesium Supplements
Oral magnesium can be hard on your stomach when taken in large quantities. There are a couple of factors that need to be considered when determining the effectiveness of oral magnesium supplements. You need proper digestion and adequate HCl in order to properly absorb oral magnesium.
This is where magnesium oil comes into play. Since magnesium oil is absorbed directly through the skin, you don’t have to worry about digestion problems limiting its absorption. You also do not need to worry about applying too much or overdosing on magnesium oil because your skin will control and limit the actual amount you are able to absorb.
What does this mean? Variety is a key factor for correcting magnesium deficiency. Both, oral magnesium supplements and transdermal magnesium oil are great for increasing your magnesium intake. I recommend taking several different forms of magnesium in order to achieve the greatest results when trying to restore your magnesium levels.
